It's free and easy to miss if you're not looking — worth a short detour, and many visitors bring a little figure of their own to add to the collection.

Blanton Museum of Art, on the University of Texas campus, holds one of the largest university art collections in the country, spanning European paintings, modern and contemporary American work, and a deep collection of Latin American art. The first thing many visitors notice is Ellsworth Kelly's "Austin," a free-standing stone building with luminous colored-glass windows that sits just outside the main galleries.
